We’re quietly but happily launching a new beer into the world with our friends at De Bierkoning: I Open My Eyes, a Blended Old Ale with Brettanomyces, 6,5%.
The beer is a blend of two different amber ales that were aged in the brewery and then refermented with Brettanomyces Lambicus. The roasted and caramelised malts give the beer a deep copper color and flavors of dried fruit, cherries and toffee. The refermentation with Brettanomyces resulted in a super dry beer with some spicy and fruity notes. It’s low in hop flavor and aroma, as well as bitterness. With longer aging this beer will develop more Brettanomyces character.
We gather on this Friday at De Bierkoning at 17:00. Oedipus’ head brewer Sander will briefly introduce ‘I Open My Eyes’ around 18:00.
