a full-time Brewer / Cellar Manager

The job

As part of our continued effort to deliver awesome quality beers, we are currently seeking a full time brewer who will also have the role of cellar manager: an experienced brewer who will be part of the brewing team as well as being responsible for healthy fermentations, yeast management and delivering conditioned beer ready for packaging.

About Oedipus Brewing

After an exciting year of home brewing, we started Oedipus in 2012. Since early 2015 we brew beers in our own space in Amsterdam Noord. In 2017, we produced and packaged a total of 4000HL in our own brewery. In addition to the growth of the regular production in planned for 2018, we will start to regularly produce barrel aged and mixed fermentation beers. Apart from the brewery, we have our own taproom and organize an annual festival, Planet Oedipus.

The activities of a brewer/cellar manager are:

  • Be responsible for fermentation and lagering of all our beers
  • Be responsible for a clean and safe cellar area
  • Maintain health and control performance of multiple yeast strains
  • Collect and log relevant data to control and improve the quality of the beers
  • Work closely with Lead Brewer and Packaging Manager to ensure production schedule is implemented
  • Be part of the brewing team:
    – Produce wort in the brew house
    – Perform routine cleaning practices
    – Routine checks on the fermenting and conditioning beer
    – Collecting and administrating relevant brewing data

Job requirements:

  • Interest in craft beer and the craft beer movement
  • Have at least three years of experience being a brewer and/or doing cellar work in a brewery
  • College/University degree in Chemistry, Brewing or Distilling
  • Living in or around Amsterdam, or willing to move here
  • Being able to display creativity in the beer making process
  • Willing to work flexible working hours
